Client Manager-- Riverside Branch

US Navy

Richard Ray vividly remembers his grandfather telling him enthralling stories about traveling in the Navy and the unique experiences he gained from being in the military. Due to Richard鈥檚 vast heritage of military service from his family and friends coupled with a strong devotion to the ideals of defending freedom around the world, he decided to join the United States Navy. For more than 20 years, he served his country.

As a Master at Arms, his primary duties included anti-terrorism training, physical security management, and law enforcement functions for various military bases stateside and overseas. He conducted maritime security operations, investigations, protective service, and was assigned to a Joint Task Force in the Middle East. During Richard鈥檚 final tour, he served as the Chief Master at Arms onboard a guided missile destroyer where he trained over 350 crew members while deployed to the South China and Philippine seas.

Throughout his military career, he was stationed at several bases around the world including Virginia, Italy, Kuwait, Iraq and Bahrain. He was presented with the following awards/medals: Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (x2), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (x6), Joint Meritorious Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (x2), Battle Efficiency ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Service, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO medal, and the Rifle and Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon.

Transitioning out of the military into the civilian world can be extremely challenging, especially for someone who has been in the military for more than 20 years.

鈥淚 definitely underestimated how competitive the job market was. One of most important aspects of transitioning from the Navy is translating your training and experience into civilian terminology during the applications process and interviews,鈥 said Richard. 鈥淗owever, I did realize that the security industry is a perfect segue for veterans. The Navy鈥檚 core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and principles of leadership have helped me to forge strong business relationships with clients and employees. I am always looking to promote my security professionals who have demonstrated these qualities.鈥

An employee for 色情宝贝 since April 2019, Richard鈥檚 goal is to one day become a Regional Vice President.

鈥淲orking at 色情宝贝 is truly rewarding,鈥 said Richard. 鈥淭he best part of my job is being able to visit my client sites and interact with my security professionals on a daily basis. I also value the relationships I have built with my clients, especially those who have a true partnership mentality and want to work with me to ensure mutual success.鈥

According to Ray, his military experience has definitely helped him at his job in the security industry.

鈥淭he military trains veterans to accept and execute tasks, and to be highly adaptable,鈥 he said. 鈥淭here is a strong focus on inspiring leadership in others, setting examples, delegating tasks and giving clear and detailed directions. I was taught in my career that my success is not just measured by my achievements, but by the achievements of those who work for me.鈥
