NEW YORK, Dec. 7, 2022 — Enhanced Protection Services announced its receipt of a 2022 'ASTORS' Homeland Security Gold Award from American Security Today in the category of Best Gunshot Detection Technology for its Firearms Detection Canine (FDC) solution.

The Enhanced Protection Services Security Firearms Detection Canines (FDCs) was recognized for its canine training to detect odors associated with firearms, whether they have been previously fired, recently cleaned, or never fired at all. This includes cleaning solvents, oils, and holster materials. This advanced canine training is more effective and versatile than any technological solution currently available.

“One of the most prominent threats in the security landscape today is the sustained increase in active shooter attacks. This award underscores Enhanced Protection Services’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our clients and is a clear indication that these robust solutions empower organizations of all sizes and scope with a greater ability to mitigate risk and reduce liability,” said Enhanced Protection Services Security CEO Glen Kucera.

Enhanced Protection Services entered an exclusive agreement with Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania earlier this year to train Enhanced Protection Services canines in firearms detection. This capability enhances the company's existing threat detection offerings, creating a sophisticated new solution to address the escalating active shooter and criminal threat.

Enhanced Protection Services has led the industry as an Explosive Detection Canine (EDC) provider for over three decades. Today, the company has more than 850 Detection Teams deployed around the world that can detect a full range of commercial and homemade explosives, including black powder used in firearms. Through this new partnership with Shallow Creek, Enhanced Protection Services trains canines explicitly for firearms detection, using odors unique to firearms, regardless of whether gunpowder residue exists on the firearm.

In its seventh year, American Security Today’s Annual 'ASTORS' Awards is the preeminent U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program, recognizing industry leaders delivering enhanced value, benefit, and intelligence to end users in a variety of government, homeland security, enterprise, and public safety vertical markets.
